Chapter 12 (pp.253-269) of this volume, entitled Literary Sociability in the Netherlands, 1750-1840 (authored by W. van den Berg) discusses "literary" societies (covering poetry, eloquence, linguistics, antiquities, and history), including the following major literary societies:

Chapter 15 (pp.308-323) of this volume, entitled Professors, Amateurs, and Learned Societies: The Organization of the Natural Sciences (authored by H.A.M. Snelders) discusses in part the scientific societies.
