According to a record in the British Lib. cat., the Pharmaceutical Journal and Transactions (1841-1895) was published for the Pharmaceutical Society. According to a record in the Nat. Lib. Scotland cat., there was a note in the Preface of vol.1 of the journal Pharmaceutical Journal and Transactions reading "The first number of the journal was printed for the purpose of circulating information respecting the nature and objects of the Pharmaceutical Society ..." This suggests that in its founding year, 1841, the Society was known simply as Pharmaceutical Society. There is a record in the British Lib. cat. for the following 1873 title: Catalogue of the Library of the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. This suggests that as early as 1873, the Society was called Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. According to its website, in May 1988 the Society became the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. |
