According to its website, the Academy was founded in 1820 as the Société Académique de Savoie. Then, in 1827 through letters patent Charles-Félix (1765–1831), King of Sardinia, granted the institution the name Société Royale Académique de Savoie. Its website goes on to say that on 1848, April 3 Charles-Albert constituted it as an Académie Royale. Its website goes on to say that, with the Annexation of 1860, it became Académie Impériale through a decree of 1860, July 14. In 1870 it became the Académie des Sciences, Belles-Lettres et Arts de Savoie. Its website uses both the longer form of name, Académie des Sciences, Belles-Lettres et Arts de Savoie, and the shorter form Académie de Savoie. |
