According to Graf (1993), p.74,
the founding assembly of the Society took place on 1765, October 12;
its areas of interest were to include the fine arts, as well as the German
language and literature.
Graf (1993), p.75 indicates that at that assembly
the Society decided that it wanted itself to be known henceforth as the
Gesellschaft der Schönen Wissenschaften zu Oettingen am Inn.
According to Graf (1993), pp.88-89,
in 1768 the Society had begun plans to shift its emphasis primarily to
the area of agriculture.
Graf (1993), p.93 indicates that, on
1769, September 23, the
Society received an electoral decree of ratification for such a change.
Graf (1993), p.95 notes that the statutes of the
re-organized Society were dated 1769, November 19, and named the Society
as
Churbaierische Landwirthschaftliche Gesellschaft zu Altenoettingen.
According to Graf (1993), p.185,
on 1777, December 30, the patron of the Society,
Elector Max III. Joseph, died suddenly, leaving no direct heirs.
The new Elector, from the Pfalz area,
Karl Theodor von der Pfalz, assumed office on 1778, January 2.
Graf (1993), p.185 notes that he appeared for the
most part to be a gloomy and reactionary ruler.
According to Graf (1993), pp.188-189, there was
concern about whether he would ratify the existence of the Society
without changes.
Graf (1993), p.213 indicates that from the
time of the ratification of the existing Society by the new ruler
on 1778, March 2, the Society was known as the
Churpfalzbaierische Gesellschaft Sittlich- und Landwirthschaftlicher
Wissenschaften zu Burghausen.
[Note the change of the geographical descriptor from
Churbaierische to Churpfalzbaierische.]
Graf (1993), p.213 goes on to say that this
ratification decree meant that the Society would continue its work without
government interference, but also without additional governmental help.
Graf (1993), p.218 refers to the suppression of
the Illuminati (founded in 1776), and points in particular to the decree
by Karl Theodor in 1785 against the Freemasons and the Illuminati.
The resulting persecutions had a paralysing effect on intellectual life in
Bavaria in the following years.
Graf (1993), pp.218-225 describes a period of
stagnation in the Society from 1785 to 1791, the year of the death of
Leopold Frhr. v. Hartmann, the vice-president of the Society.
According to Graf (1993), p.226,
at a general assembly of the Society on 1791, March 18 (a few weeks after
the death of Hartmann), several changes were instituted, including the
change from a Society to an Academy.
Based on Graf (1993), pp.226-227 and p.227
footnote 185, one may conclude that
the full name of the new Academy was
Churpfalzbaierische Sittlich-Landwirthschaftliche Akademie zu
Burghausen.
According to Graf (1993), p.233,
in 1802 the Society decided to dissolve itself.

From the above information we may come to some conclusions.
We have not been able to determine from the
GBV German Union cat. that any of the
publications before 1780 had volume numbering.
The GBV German Union cat. indicates
that volumes from 1780 to 1790 were numbered as vol.2, parts 1 to 11.
Graf (1993), however, appears not to allude to
this nor to the series title
Abhandlungen der landwirtschaftlichen Gesellschaft zu
Burghausen.
It seems quite clear, however, that the publications listed
on pp.284-287 of Graf (1993) as bound togehter
each year are indeed the same publications as those listed in the
GBV German Union cat. with the series
title
Abhandlungen der landwirtschaftlichen Gesellschaft zu
Burghausen and numbered as vol.2, parts 1 to 11.
Many of these articles were also reprinted in the
"Baierisch- Ökonomischer Hausvater" (1779 - 1786),
which was a monthly publication of the Society.
On pp.280-287 of Graf (1993),
we find an enumeration of the articles;
in cases when the article was also reprinted in the afore-mentioned
monthly publication, that is indicated and the details are given.
