1736 According to Kertscher (2002), p.73, although the founding year is placed between 1736 and 1738 in the literature, the year 1736 seems most likely.
Kertscher (2002), p.78 indicates that the intention of the Society was to favour projects that other societies generally tended to neglect, such as theological, juristic, moral, metaphysical and historical ones. These subjects are indeed the most common ones that appeared in the titles of the the articles in their journal, the Bemühungen (enumerated on pp.94-99 of Kertscher (2002)).
According to Kertscher (2002), p.91, it is likely that the Society lasted until 1748.
